How did you find Jesus in your life?

I grew up inside the church, with faithful parents. My mother was in the Tabernacle Choir when I was young and I remember going to the Tabernacle one Sunday to listen to Music and the Spoken Word, the Choir’s weekly broadcast, and I remembered something my mother had told me about how missionary work gets done in multiple ways, including bearing testimony through song. That day I felt the Spirit confirm so strongly the truthfulness of the gospel.

How did you meet your spouse?

We met in a singles ward the weekend I got home from my mission to Argentina. Alisha was serving as a newly called Relief Society President and we spoke together on the same Sunday. I was smitten but she was not swayed so easily. After several months of persuasion she finally consented to go out with me and after that we were inseparable, and have been for 24 years.

What General Conference talk has been on your mind lately and why?

Elder Renlund’s talk from this last General Conference, “Accessing God’s Power Through Covenants.” Specifically, the promises he extends near the end of his talk. “ As you walk the covenant path, from baptism to the temple and throughout life, I promise you power to go against the natural worldly flow—power to learn, power to repent and be sanctified, and power to find hope, comfort, and even joy as you face life’s challenges. I promise you and your family protection against the influence of the adversary, especially when you make the temple a major focus in your life.”

What is your go-to ice cream flavor?
