Summer Of Service Bucket Challenge Winner - Aimee Jenkins

Posted: Sunday - August 6, 2023

And the winner is . . . Sister Aimee Jenkins of the Danville Ward! For the Summer of Service Bucket Challenge, Sis. Jenkins turned in six service projects she and her family completed.

Her husband is Scott Jenkins, and their 8-year-old daughter is Isabelle. Between them the couple has seven children, three daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren.

They found service to do everywhere, from JustServe to their family to ideas and needs from Sis. Jenkins’s work. Their service including mowing the lawn of a family who was out of town, a collection of dorm supplies for a foster child, treats for their mail carrier, helping a single mom with car troubles, a donation to the local food bank, and their daughter cooking a meal for their family.

Sis. Jenkins works as a licensed clinical social worker with Caswell Family Medicine, so her days are spent helping people and aligning them to the services they need. But she goes further, and if she sees an unmet need, she figures out a way to meet it.

Bro. Jenkins is a lineman with Piedmont Electric. He is one of the people who works day and night when a storm knocks out the electricity. Isabelle is a third-grader at Kentuck Elementary School.

Sis. Jenkins said that her biggest drive to serve came from her parents.

"There is literally not a day that went by they were not serving someone," she said. "They could never say 'no.' But more importantly, when they saw a need, they had to help. They were my examples, which is why I am in the field I am."

The Jenkins family has lived in the Danville Ward for two-and-a-half years. Sis. Jenkins currently serves as the Relief Society activities coordinator, and Bro. Jenkins is a Primary teacher.

Sis. Jenkins was raised in Florida and North Carolina. Bro. Jenkins grew up in the Guilford Ward of the Greensboro Stake. His parents were Jack and Peggy Jenkins. Before moving to Danville, they were members of the Eden Ward.

For winning the service challenge, Sis. Jenkins was presented with a bag of goodies.

Sis. Jenkins shared a picture below of their family from a fun vacation this past summer.
